HF/50/144/430 MHz Multimode Operation
From HF to 50/144/430 MHz, you can enjoy a variety of bands in D-STAR DV, SSB, CW, AM and FM modes. The IC-705 receives continuously from 30 kHz through the 144 MHz band. You can also enjoy FM broadcast and Airband reception.

RF Direct Sampling System
The Icom IC-705 uses the RF direct sampling method* matured in the IC-7300, IC-7610, and IC-9700. This method greatly reduces distortion. The high speed /high resolution real-time spectrum scope and waterfall display are incorporated in a compact design for the first time in this class.

The IC-705 inherits the performance and functions of the highly-acclaimed IC-7300 and IC-9700 scopes. You can visually figure out the band condition and check clear frequencies. It takes you to the next level beyond traditional field operation.

Large Touch Screen Colour Display
The large 4.3 inch colour TFT touch LCD is the same size as the IC-7300 and IC-9700. It offers intuitive operation of the IC-705’s functions, settings, and various operational visual aids, such as the band scope, waterfall, and audio scope functions.

Compact and Lightweight Design
“Base station radio” performance and functions are packaged in a compact size of approximately 20 cm, 7.9 in (W) × 8.35 cm, 3.3 in (H) × 8.2 cm, 3.2 in (D). The weight is approximately 1.1 kg (including BP-272). Its compact and lightweight design enables you to hold it with one hand.

The Icom IC-705 utilises the high capacity Li-Ion battery from the ID-51A and ID-31A handheld radios. A 13.8 V DC external power supply can be used for operation and charging of the BP-272.

In portable mode, the Icom IC-705 has a maximum output power of 5 W from the BP-272 which can last approx. 3 hours*. This is perfect for true 5 W QRP as well as the 0.5 W QRPp operations. Once you setup with a 13.8 V DC power source, you have up to 10 W.

Innovative IC 7300 HF/50/70MHz Transceiver Launched at Tokyo Ham Fair 2015

Icom Inc. had a huge amount of interest on its stand at last weekend’s Tokyo Ham Fair 2015 with the timely unveiling of the New IC-7300 HF/50/70MHz Transceiver.

The launch, which caught most people off guard, saw the manufacturer introduce a new mid-sized base station transceiver incorporating the latest RF direct sampling system, a real first for an Amateur radio transceiver*.

The IC-7300 transceiver, an aesthetically, attractive looking base station, features a 4.3-inch touchscreen colour TFT LCD screen with a high-performance real-time band scope.

Another first for an Amateur radio transceiver, the IC-7300 uses an RF Direct Sampling System, a technology normally seen in Software Defined Radios.

RF signals are mostly processed through the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), rather than by physical devices enabling high-performance real-time spectrum scope in a compact body.

The Icom IC-7300 includes a built-in integrated wide-frequency Automatic Antenna Tuner making ideal for field operation.

The radio provides 100 watts output power on HF/50MHz bands and 50 watts on 70MHz (European versions only).

The Down Conversion type receiver construction is similar to the FTDX5000. The first IF frequency is 9 MHz, and a low noise figure dual gate MOS FET, D-quad DBM (Double Balanced Mixer) with excellent intermodulation characteristics, is implemented in the mixer section. Narrow band SDR configuration makes it possible to use the narrow bandwidth crystal roofing filters that have the sharp shape factor.  This achieves the amazing multi-signal receiving performance when confronted with the most challenging on-the-air interference situations.

In addition to IF down-conversion, The Yaesu FTDX101MP receivers implement the YAESU legendary powerful RF Front-Ends, outstanding low-noise Local Oscillators, roofing filters with sharp shape factors, and the latest circuit configurations that we carefully selected for all circuit elements. Consequently, the proximity BDR (Blocking Dynamic Range) in the 14 MHz band reaches 150 dB or more, the RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic range) reaches 123 dB or more, and the 3rd IMDR (third-order Intermodulation Dynamic Range) reaches 110 dB or more.

Digital Processing Generated Real-Time Spectrum Scope

The Narrow band SDR receiver removes strong out of band signals by using a superheterodyne method, with narrow band roofing filters which significantly attenuates unwanted out of band frequency components, and the wanted signals within the passband are converted to digital by a high resolution 18-bit A/D converter and sent to an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) for signal processing.

The  Yaesu FTDX101MP series uses a hybrid SDR configuration that integrates a direct sampling SDR receiver in order to view the entire band status in real time, with the excellent dynamic receiver performance achieved by the narrow band SDR receiver circuit.

By using this hybrid SDR design, the overall performance of the entire FTDX101 receiver system is improved. The Direct Sampling SDR driving the real time Spectrum display with its large dynamic range enables the weakest signal to be observed on the display when it appears and the Narrow Band SDR enables that signal to be selected, filtered and then decoded.

If there is powerful AM station near your location or in challenging operating situations where there are a lot of strong signals in the band from Contests, DX-pedition activities, those signals outside the pass band can be attenuated by the very effective roofing filter in the front stage of the A/D converter. This reduces the signal load on the A/D converter which is a bottleneck from the viewpoint of the entire receiving circuit. Therefore, interference is reduced making it is possible to continue to operate even under such difficult conditions.

Truly Quiet and Clear Reception

Ultra Low-Noise Local Oscillator System; 400MHz HRDDS (High Resolution Direct Digital Synthesizer)

The C/N ratio (signal-to-noise ratio) of the local signal injected into the 1st mixer is an important factor in improving the proximity multi-signal characteristics. The local circuit of the FTDX101 series uses the 400 MHz HRDDS (High Resolution Direct Digital Synthesizer) method that was used in the FTDX5000. This circuit configuration is different from a generic PLL that generates a local signal. Creating the local signal by directly dividing the high frequency of 400 MHz, the theoretical PLL lockup time becomes zero, and C/N deterioration by the lockup time does not occur.

The significant improvement of the C/N characteristic by directly dividing the frequency contributes dramatically to reduce the noise in the entire receiver stage, and also improve the BDR (Blocking Dynamic Range) characteristic in strong signals proximity.

In the FTDX 101 series, in addition to the adoption of the 400 MHz HRDDS, the latest circuit configurations that reduced noise, and carefully selected components are used. As a result, the phase noise characteristic of the local signal achieves an excellent value of -150 dBc/Hz or less at 2kHz separation.

This low-noise, high-quality local signal contributes significantly to the multi-signal and the ultra-close signal proximity (such as a few hundred hertz) characteristics.

In the Yaesu FTDX101MP series, a next-generation RF preselector VC-Tune further improves the high-performance RF μ (mu)-Tuning system adopted in FTDX9000. Using a remarkable miniaturization design while producing unparalleled characteristics and maximum attenuation of -70 dB.

Newly developed VC-tune circuit drives a variable capacitor (VC) with a high precision stepping motor and achieved remarkable miniaturization over μ-tuning system.

VC-Tune has no annoying steps or switching relays by continuously covering the band with a variable capacitor driven by a high-precision stepping motor following the frequency. The conventional preset method of switching coils and capacitors with relays is eliminated.

When there are multiple strong signals in the band, press the “VC TUNE” key and turn the MPVD (Multi-Purpose VFO Outer Dial) ring on the VFO dial to activate the high-precision stepping motor to adjust the variable capacitor. Fine tune to the optimum point that attenuates the strong signal in the band while operating the VFO dial.

VC-Tune stores the last tuning point for each band, so when broadcast-like signals are periodically transmitted on the same frequency, that frequency can always be attenuated by setting the VC-Tune once.

Transmit Final Stage produces the Highest Signal Purity

The excellent C/N characteristics provided by the 400MHz HRDDS (High Resolution Direct Digital Synthesizer) used in the local oscillator circuit also contributes significantly to the transmitter section.  In a generic circuit, noise or distortion may occur depending on the circuit configuration and the components, up to the final stage that is producing the transmit signal, even if the local signal is of high quality.  In the FTDX101, a thorough examination of each element up to the final TX stage was made. The clock that divides and distributes the local signal from the 400MHz HRDDS circuit to each block, as well as the FPGA, D/A converter, the final power amplifier etc., and carefully selecting the latest circuit configurations to improve the C/N characteristics of the entire transmitter block. The transmit signal of the Yaesu FTDX101MP is directly generated from a 16-bit D/A converter without passing through a mixer circuit, therefore distortion and noise are significantly suppressed.

As a result, high-quality local signal characteristics are maintained without degradation to the final stage, and the transmission phase noise characteristics achieve -150 dBc/Hz at 2kHz separation.

ABI (Active Band Indicator)

ABI is arranged as the band select key in the horizontal a row at the top of VFO dial.

When the band selected as MAIN Band, the LED indicates in white, and when the band selected by SUB band, the LED indicates in blue. At the status of transmission, the LED turns red so you can instantly confirm which VFO is transmitting.

In addition, since the orange LED lights up when you press and hold the band key, you can use it to display a band that has an antenna connected or to display a band operated in DX-pedition mode as a memo. Below the band key is a key for selection between transmission and reception of the MAIN and SUB band, and below that, there is a switching key for using the VFO knob on the MAIN or SUB tuning, so, even when the operating split using both MAIN and SUB bands at the same time, the band control can be performed smoothly, and so tuning the wrong band by mistake is reduced.

MPVD (Multi-Purpose VFO Outer Dial)

The MPVD is a large high-grade aluminium multifunctional ring around the outside of the VFO dial. The ring allows control of SUB VFO frequency dial, VC-TUNE, Clarifier and C/S (custom select function). The MPVD is a handy dial that allows you to adjust important functions in ever-changing HF communications without taking your hand off the VFO. The ring has the traditional Yaesu outstanding smooth and solid feeling when used.

PC Remote Control Software to Expand the Operating Range

Crystal Roofing Filters produce phenomenal Multi-signal characteristics

The Down Conversion type receiver construction is similar to the FTDX5000. The first IF frequency is 9 MHz, and a low noise figure dual gate MOS FET, D-quad DBM (Double Balanced Mixer) with excellent intermodulation characteristics, is implemented in the mixer section. Narrow band SDR configuration makes it possible to use the narrow bandwidth crystal roofing filters that have the sharp shape factor.  This achieves the amazing multi-signal receiving performance when confronted with the most challenging on-the-air interference situations.

In addition to IF down-conversion, The FTDX101D receivers implement the YAESU legendary powerful RF Front-Ends, outstanding low-noise Local Oscillators, roofing filters with sharp shape factors, and the latest circuit configurations that we carefully selected for all circuit elements. Consequently, the proximity BDR (Blocking Dynamic Range) in the 14 MHz band reaches 150 dB or more, the RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic range) reaches 123 dB or more, and the 3rd IMDR (third-order Intermodulation Dynamic Range) reaches 110 dB or more.

Digital Processing Generated Real-Time Spectrum Scope

The Narrow band SDR receiver removes strong out of band signals by using a superheterodyne method, with narrow band roofing filters which significantly attenuates unwanted out of band frequency components, and the wanted signals within the passband are converted to digital by a high resolution 18-bit A/D converter and sent to an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) for signal processing.

The FT DX 101 series uses a hybrid SDR configuration that integrates a direct sampling SDR receiver in order to view the entire band status in real time, with the excellent dynamic receiver performance achieved by the narrow band SDR receiver circuit.

By using this hybrid SDR design, the overall performance of the entire FTDX101 receiver system is improved. The Direct Sampling SDR driving the real time Spectrum display with its large dynamic range enables the weakest signal to be observed on the display when it appears and the Narrow Band SDR enables that signal to be selected, filtered and then decoded.

If there is powerful AM station near your location or in challenging operating situations where there are a lot of strong signals in the band from Contests, DX-pedition activities, those signals outside the pass band can be attenuated by the very effective roofing filter in the front stage of the A/D converter. This reduces the signal load on the A/D converter which is a bottleneck from the viewpoint of the entire receiving circuit. Therefore, interference is reduced making it is possible to continue to operate even under such difficult conditions.

Truly Quiet and Clear Reception

Ultra Low-Noise Local Oscillator System; 400MHz HRDDS (High Resolution Direct Digital Synthesizer)

The C/N ratio (signal-to-noise ratio) of the local signal injected into the 1st mixer is an important factor in improving the proximity multi-signal characteristics. The local circuit of the FTDX101D series uses the 400 MHz HRDDS (High Resolution Direct Digital Synthesizer) method that was used in the FTDX5000. This circuit configuration is different from a generic PLL that generates a local signal. Creating the local signal by directly dividing the high frequency of 400 MHz, the theoretical PLL lockup time becomes zero, and C/N deterioration by the lockup time does not occur.

The significant improvement of the C/N characteristic by directly dividing the frequency contributes dramatically to reduce the noise in the entire receiver stage, and also improve the BDR (Blocking Dynamic Range) characteristic in strong signals proximity.

In the FTDX101D series, in addition to the adoption of the 400 MHz HRDDS, the latest circuit configurations that reduced noise, and carefully selected components are used. As a result, the phase noise characteristic of the local signal achieves an excellent value of -150 dBc/Hz or less at 2kHz separation.

This low-noise, high-quality local signal contributes significantly to the multi-signal and the ultra-close signal proximity (such as a few hundred hertz) characteristics.

In the FTDX101D series, a next-generation RF preselector VC-Tune further improves the high-performance RF μ (mu)-Tuning system adopted in FTDX9000. Using a remarkable miniaturization design while producing unparalleled characteristics and maximum attenuation of -70 dB.

Newly developed VC-tune circuit drives a variable capacitor (VC) with a high precision stepping motor and achieved remarkable miniaturization over μ-tuning system.

VC-Tune has no annoying steps or switching relays by continuously covering the band with a variable capacitor driven by a high-precision stepping motor following the frequency. The conventional preset method of switching coils and capacitors with relays is eliminated.

When there are multiple strong signals in the band, press the “VC TUNE” key and turn the MPVD (Multi-Purpose VFO Outer Dial) ring on the VFO dial to activate the high-precision stepping motor to adjust the variable capacitor. Fine tune to the optimum point that attenuates the strong signal in the band while operating the VFO dial.

VC-Tune stores the last tuning point for each band, so when broadcast-like signals are periodically transmitted on the same frequency, that frequency can always be attenuated by setting the VC-Tune once.

The excellent C/N characteristics provided by the 400MHz HRDDS (High Resolution Direct Digital Synthesizer) used in the local oscillator circuit also contributes significantly to the transmitter section.  In a generic circuit, noise or distortion may occur depending on the circuit configuration and the components, up to the final stage that is producing the transmit signal, even if the local signal is of high quality.  In the FTDX101, a thorough examination of each element up to the final TX stage was made. The clock that divides and distributes the local signal from the 400MHz HRDDS circuit to each block, as well as the FPGA, D/A converter, the final power amplifier etc., and carefully selecting the latest circuit configurations to improve the C/N characteristics of the entire transmitter block. The transmit signal of the FTDX101 is directly generated from a 16-bit D/A converter without passing through a mixer circuit, therefore distortion and noise are significantly suppressed.

As a result, high-quality local signal characteristics are maintained without degradation to the final stage, and the transmission phase noise characteristics achieve -150 dBc/Hz at 2kHz separation. FTDX101 transceiver user will appreciate the finest performance with a high-purity transmission signal.

Front Panel Design Emphasizes Solid Superior Touch and Operability

Primary important operation functions such as the Main VFO dial, VC-TUNE, WIDTH/SHIFT are arranged near the center of the pane for easy access.

Band select keys are placed as a row of ABI (active band indicator) at the top of the VFO dial, with your operating efficiency and comfort.

Even with a Large 7-inch Touch Panel Display, the panel layout emphasizes quick visibility and operability as a First Priority.

ABI (Active Band Indicator)

ABI is arranged as the band select key in the horizontal a row at the top of VFO dial.

When the band selected as MAIN Band, the LED indicates in white, and when the band selected by SUB band, the LED indicates in blue. At the status of transmission, the LED turns red so you can instantly confirm which VFO is transmitting.

In addition, since the orange LED lights up when you press and hold the band key, you can use it to display a band that has an antenna connected or to display a band operated in DX-pedition mode as a memo. Below the band key is a key for selection between transmission and reception of the MAIN and SUB band, and below that, there is a switching key for using the VFO knob on the MAIN or SUB tuning, so, even when the operating split using both MAIN and SUB bands at the same time, the band control can be performed smoothly, and so tuning the wrong band by mistake is reduced.

MPVD (Multi-Purpose VFO Outer Dial)

The MPVD is a large high-grade aluminium multifunctional ring around the outside of the VFO dial. The ring allows control of SUB VFO frequency dial, VC-TUNE, Clarifier and C/S (custom select function). The MPVD is a handy dial that allows you to adjust important functions in ever-changing HF communications without taking your hand off the VFO. The ring has the traditional Yaesu outstanding smooth and solid feeling when used.

PC Remote Control Software to Expand the Operating Range

CTCSS and DCS Encode/Decode Built In
For easy repeater access, or silent monitoring of busy channels, both CTCSS and DCS (Digital Code Squelch) Encoder/Decoder circuits are built in. CTCSS and DCS configuration data may be stored independently in each memory channel.
A “Split Tone” mode also allows operation on systems where CTCSS and DCS are used separately on the repeater uplink/downlink.
Extensive Memory System.
The FT 2980 R provides a total of 221 memory channels, including 200 “regular” memories, ten pairs of band-limit memories, and an instant-recall “Home” channel you can dedicate to a frequently-used repeater or simplex frequency. Memories can store repeater shift information, CTCSS/DCS data, power output level, scanning status (“Skip”), and Alpha-Numeric labels.
Alpha-Numeric Channel Display.
Memory channels may be displayed either with the channel frequency or a personalized Alpha-Numeric label, for easy channel recognition. Up to six letters, characters, or numbers may be used for labeling channels.
WIRES Internet Linking Access Feature.
The FT 2980 R includes a conveniently-located “Internet” key, for quick access to Internet-linked repeater systems. Internet repeater linking allows you to use your FT 2980 R to talk to other Amateurs throughout the world, with outstanding voice signal quality. The “Internet” key may be configured to send either a single DTMF digit, or a DTMF string, for operation on a WIRES™ (Wide-Coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement System) repeater, or on other Internet-linked repeaters using DTMF tone access.
WX Channels.
A special 10-channel Weather Band memory bank is provided in the U.S. version, allowing quick access to NOAA weather broadcasts. When the 1050-Hz “Severe Weather” alert tone is transmitted, the FT-2980R may be configured to emit an alarm tone to get your attention quickly. With the “Weather Alert” feature enabled, the FT-2980R will scan the ten Weather memories, stopping only if the 1050-Hz tone is received.

The ICOM IC-9700 is the first VHF/UHF/1200 MHz transceiver which introduces the RF direct sampling system for the 144 and 430 MHz bands, a real-time spectrum scope and waterfall function. 144, 430, and 1200 MHz All Mode Transceiver Including Satellite, DV, and DD Modes
Without installing any option unit, you can enjoy Multi-band operation. The IC-9700 includes D-STAR (a digital voice and data protocol specification for amateur radio) DV and DD modes. In addition, Satellite mode is built-in! There are three antenna connectors for 144, 430, and 1200 MHz.

Incorporates Icom’s RF Direct Sampling System
The Icom IC-9700 adopts the RF Direct Sampling system (for 144 MHz and 430 MHz). In this system, signals are processed in the digital domain by the ADC and FPGA. This is different from legacy superheterodyne systems, where the signals are processed in a mixer that includes nonlinear elements. Therefore, the signal purity is very high, and clear audio can be generated. For 1200 MHz, the Down Conversion IF Sampling method is adopted.

Instinctive Operation with the Touch Screen
You can easily set the operating frequency or mode by touching the standby screen. The MENU screen allows you intuitively change settings including those for satellite communication or D-STAR operation. Entering Memory channel names is easy to do on the character input screen.

The Very First VHF/UHF Real-Time Spectrum Scope and Waterfall Display
This is the first time that a real-time spectrum scope and waterfall display comparable to an HF high tier transceiver have been introduced in a VHF/UHF transceiver. With the high-speed spectrum scope, you can instantly grasp your operating band condition and you can set the frequency to a destination signal with a simple touch on the screen. You can also view receive signal history using the waterfall display.

Independent Receiver, Full Duplex Operation
The Icom IC-9700 can simultaneously receive on two different bands, and two different modes. For example, you can receive on the 1200 MHz band in AM mode while receiving on the 144 MHz band in FM mode. This function will be a significant advantage when participating in contests, or DX hunting. Furthermore, the IC-9700 is Full Duplex which enables you to transmit on the main band while receiving on the sub-band allowing you to enjoy Satellite operation.

Audio Scope Function
Making good use of the Audio Scope function, various Audio characteristics, such as microphone compressor level, filter width, notch filter width, and keying waveform in CW mode can be monitored. Transmit or receive audio can either be displayed on the FFT scope and the oscilloscope.

Newly Designed Power Amplifier
The power amplifier outputs stable power with high efficiency (144/430 MHz band: 100/70 watts). The cooling system prevents the PA’s temperature from rising, even when operating for a long time. That enables reliable operation during contests. This amplifier is more energy efficient than previous models.

D-STAR Operating Functions
The Icom IC-9700 has the D-STAR Repeater (DR) function. The DR function can be used on both the main band and sub band. Moreover, by using the DD mode, you can browse the Internet through a repeater station.

Built-in “Remote” Function, Terminal mode and Access Point mode
A static IP address can be set to the transceiver. If you set a global IP address to your router, you can use the Terminal mode or Access Point mode without remote software applications.

Almost Identical User Interface to the IC-7300
The layout of the dials and keys and the menu screens are almost the same as the IC-7300. If you are familiar with the IC-7300, the IC-9700 will be easy to operate. The IC-9700 is the perfect side-by-side companion to the IC-7300, enabling operation from HF to 1200 MHz.

Comprehensive Menus for Satellite Operation
The selectable Main, Sub, Normal, and Reverse Satellite Screen menus make Satellite operation easier. Even in Satellite mode, you can use the high-quality spectrum scope.

Normal and Reverse Tracking functions
In addition to Reverse Tracking function there is also a Normal Tracking function that simultaneously increases or decreases both the downlink and uplink frequencies in the same steps.

The Yaesu FT-70 DE is a compact and very attractively priced Yaesu System Fusion transceiver providing both conventional analog FM operation and the advanced C4FM Digital mode.

The Yaesu  FT-70DE provides up to 5W of reliable RF power, and it’s large front speaker delivers 700mW of audio output. C4FM has better Bit Error Rate characteristics than other digital modulations the user can expect exeptional audio quality.

the new digital Yaesu FT-70DE includes Yaesu’s unique Automatic Mode Select (AMS) function. AMS detects the operating mode of the recieved signal as C4FM digital or analog FM, and then automatically and instantly switches the reciever to the appropriate mode. Users do not need to manually change between the nodes.

The multi-coloured LED mode-indicator displayed on the front allows the operator to easily see what mode the FT-70DE is in any given moment. LED Mode-Indicator clearly and visibly shows the transmit/recieve mode by changing its colour so that the operating mode of the transceiver is easily recognised at a glance.

One of the other distinguishing features of the FT-70DE is a Digital Group Monitor (GM) with DG-ID and DP-ID. DG-ID (Digital Group Identification) and DP-ID (Digital Personal Identification) are useful features now included in the FT-70DE, to simplify the GM operation. Simply put, the transceiver selecting the same DG-ID or DP-ID can communicate with each other. Between 00 and 99 DG-ID and DP-ID are selctable; which provides loads of flexibility so that users can enjoy group communication with friends in GM mode in accordance to their individual operational needs.

Yaesu FT 991 A is the next-generation of the widely popular FT-991. Like its predecessor, the FT-991A is creatively designed to fit into a very compact (W9.0″ xH3.2″ x D9.3″) rugged case and will deliver up to 100 Watts solid output power (50 Watts on 144/430MHz) on SSB, CW, AM, FM, Packet and C4FM Digital LAMCO Barnsley on the popular HF/50/144/430MHz Bands.
