The Icom IC-705 is a versatile, portable HF/VHF/UHF transceiver that combines advanced technology and user-friendly features. This compact device operates across multiple bands, including HF, 50 MHz, 144 MHz, and 430 MHz, supporting various modes such as D-STAR, SSB, CW, AM, and FM. Its RF direct sampling system, inherited from Icom’s acclaimed models, significantly reduces distortion while providing a high-speed, high-resolution, real-time spectrum scope and waterfall display. The 4.3-inch colour touchscreen, similar to those found in the IC-7300 and IC-9700, enhances operational ease, allowing users to visually assess band conditions and identify Precise frequencies.
Designed for portability, the IC-705 measures approximately 20 cm in width and weighs around 1.1 kg, making it easy to handle with one hand. The device operates on a BP-272 Li-ion battery pack, delivering a maximum output power of 5 W in portable mode, lasting about three hours. Users can connect to a 13.8 V DC power source for extended operations, increasing the output to 10 W. Including WLAN and Bluetooth technologies allows for remote control and access to accessories, enhancing usability in the field.
Additional features include an internal GPS for location logging and repeater search, a microSD card slot for data storage, and a micro USB port for charging and rig control.
