The Yaesu FT-2980R VHF 2M 144MHz High Power Transceiver is a robust communication device offering an impressive 80 Watts output power without a cooling fan. Designed for ease of use, the transceiver features a large, easy-to-read display and one-touch access to WIRES™ Internet Linking, enabling seamless communication with other amateur radio operators worldwide. The built-in CTCSS and DCS encode/decode capabilities facilitate straightforward repeater access and silent monitoring of busy channels, with independent configuration data storage for each memory channel.
Equipped with a comprehensive memory system, the FT-2980R boasts 221 memory channels, including 200 regular memories and ten pairs of band-limit memories. Users can dedicate an instant-recall “Home” channel for frequently used frequencies. Each memory can store essential information such as repeater shift, CTCSS/DCS data, power output level, and alpha-numeric labels for easy identification. This extensive memory management allows for efficient operation, especially in complex communication environments.
The FT-2980R also features a dedicated weather band memory bank, providing quick access to NOAA broadcasts and a weather alert function that activates an alarm tone during severe weather alerts.
