Yaesu introduced the M-70 Desktop Microphone, which was explicitly designed for its range of HF transceivers. This microphone features a directional condenser element that is finely tuned to enhance frequency response, ensuring clear and crisp audio during radio communications. The push-to-talk (PTT) mechanism employs three Air-Cylinder tubes, similar to those found in the Reference Microphone M-1, providing a reliable and smooth operation. Additionally, a conveniently located one-touch PTT keylock button allows for extended conversations without needing to hold the button continuously.
The M-70 has a built-in Low-Cut filter, which effectively shapes the low-frequency response by cutting off frequencies below 340Hz at a rate of -6dB per octave. This feature helps minimise background noise, ensuring the transmitted audio remains focused and intelligible. Users will also appreciate the ON/OFF sliding switch at the microphone’s bottom, allowing for easy control of the device’s power.
Compatibility is a crucial aspect of the M-70, as it works seamlessly with all Yaesu HF transceivers with either a round 8-pin or an 8-pin modular microphone connector. With its advanced features and user-friendly design, the M-70 Desktop Microphone is poised to enhance the performance of Yaesu HF transceivers, making it a valuable addition for amateur and professional radio operators.
