The IC-706MkII offers enhanced passband width selection, accommodating up to two optional crystal filter units. This feature allows users to choose from three distinct passband widths across SSB, CW, or RTTY modes, improving versatility in various operating conditions. Additionally, the optional tone squelch unit, UT-86, enhances FM mode functionality, particularly beneficial during operations on the 144 MHz and 6-meter bands. Standard features include a programmable CTCSS subaudible tone and a 1750 Hz tone encoder, ensuring effective communication.
Simplifying user experience, the IC-706MkII incorporates an individual band change key and a SUB DIAL, facilitating quick band changes and mobile operation. Each band retains specific settings for pre-amplifier, attenuator, and tuner ON/OFF states, while the RIT variable range adjustment is conveniently controlled via the SUB DIAL. The newly designed FL-272 SSB filter, paired with a robust 66 mm speaker, delivers superior audio quality for both transmission and reception, ensuring clarity in communication.
Compact and lightweight, the IC-706MkII measures just 167 x 58 x 200 mm, making it an ideal choice for mobile use or DX’peditions without sacrificing base station capabilities. The detachable front panel allows for flexible mounting options, while features like the IF shift interference rejection system and spectrum scope function enhance operational efficiency.
