Why doesn’t the WIRES-X button work with my hotspot?
Most third-party hotspots do not support the true Fusion WIRES-X protocol. They connect to YSF or FCS reflectors, which are not part of the official WIRES-X network, and therefore do not support room linking or memory functions.
Why does my Yaesu FT-70DE shut off and restart when I press PTT?
This is a protective feature triggered by insufficient power supply.
Ensure the battery is fully charged.
Batteries can degrade over time and may need replacement.
A voltmeter reading below 6V usually indicates a worn battery that should be replaced.
Can I leave my Yaesu FT-70DE on the charger indefinitely?
No. While leaving the radio on charge for a few extra hours is fine, continuously charging the battery for days can degrade its lifespan. Only charge as needed to maintain battery health.
How should I store my Yaesu FT-70DE to protect battery life?
If storing for extended periods, remove the battery from the radio. Keeping the battery attached can slowly drain it over time, potentially leading to unrecoverable deep discharge.
What kind of range can I expect from the Yaesu FT-70DE?
Range is dependent on terrain and antenna elevation.
With the stock antenna at ground level: ~1–2 miles.
With elevation and unobstructed line of sight: significantly greater range.
If you’re looking for a reliable, feature-packed, and compact dual-band handheld, the Yaesu FT-70DE is an excellent choice for amateur radio operators, emergency responders, and outdoor enthusiasts seeking advanced digital and analog communication in a single device.
