The Yaesu FTDX10, much like its predecessor, the FTDX101 series, employs a Hybrid SDR configuration that combines narrow-band SDR and Direct Sampling SDR technologies. This innovative design enhances receiver performance significantly, allowing for a Digital Processing Real-Time Spectrum Scope and three types of roofing filters. Utilizing a Down Conversion type receiver configuration with a first IF at 9MHz, the FTDX10 integrates high-quality narrow bandwidth crystal roofing filters that provide a sharp “cliff edge” shape factor. This setup results in impressive specifications, including a Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range (RMDR) of 116dB, a Blocking Dynamic Range (BDR) of 141dB, and a third-order Intermodulation Dynamic Range (IMDR) of 109dB, all measured within the 14MHz band at 2kHz separation. The incorporation of a 250MHz High-Resolution Direct Digital Synthesizer (HRDDS) further enhances reception quality, achieving a phase noise characteristic of -145dB or less.
The FTDX10 features a 5-inch Full-Color TFT display with touch-panel functionality, showcasing a 3DSS (3-Dimensional Spectrum Stream) for user-friendly operation. The front panel is designed for efficiency, with a Multi-Purpose VFO Outer Dial that facilitates various controls. Remote operation capabilities are available through the optional SCU-LAN10 unit, allowing users to monitor band conditions from a distance.
